And the Gates of Hell Open

by thubten

No one expected the heat that came today. Portland isn’t designed for extreme heat, as it struggles with any snow at all. Last winter Portland had an enormous storm and record snowfall. Observing the storm from Denver, it seemed like an average storm that anyone should be able to handle, but the city seized and shut down for more than a week. Just as Portland seized with the snow, it is seizing with this heat.

No one has air conditioning, with the noted exception of the Motel-6 in which we’re staying, but only until morning. A friend looked up the heat index and it looks like we’ll be up to 130F (107 without the indexing). This is crazy.
